Clean Energy to Supply LNG to Valley Metro
in Phoenix
Five-year Contract Valued at $34 Million
Seal Beach, California (June 9, 2003) Clean Energy,
North Americas leader in clean transportation (formerly
ENRG), has been awarded the LNG (liquefied natural gas) supply
contract for Valley Metro, which provides public transit service
in nearly 20 communities in the greater Phoenix, Arizona metropolitan
area.
The five-year agreement is valued at more than $34,000,000
in revenue to Clean Energy and includes five additional one-year
options.
We are pleased to begin supplying LNG to Valley Metro,
one of the leaders nationwide in providing clean transit for
its customers, said Jim Harger, Clean Energy Senior
Vice President, Marketing and Sales. This agreement
reflects Clean Energys fast-growing position in the
LNG supply market for transit and other uses.
The Valley Metro partners City of Phoenix, City of
Tempe, and the Regional Public Transportation Authority (RPTA)
operate nearly 540 LNG-fueled buses, which currently
use an estimated 8 million gallons of LNG per year. Usage
is expected to grow to more than 11 million gallons per year
in the fifth year of the contract.

a broad customer base in the refuse, transit, shuttle, taxi,
police, intrastate and interstate trucking, airport and municipal
fleet markets with tens of thousands of vehicles fueling at
more than 145 locations in the United States and Canada. Customers
include Los Angeles International Airport, Phoenix Sky Harbor
International Airport, SuperShuttle, SunLine Transit, Foothill
Transit, Waste Management, Dallas-Ft. Worth International
Airport, SYSCO Foods, Ft. Worth Transportation Agency, Denver
International Airport, Denver RTD, MTDB of San Diego, LaGuardia
Airport, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, and the
US Navy. The company partners with Ford Motor Company to help
expand its market share of natural gas vehicles. Clean Energy
is a private company whose major shareholders include Boone
Pickens, Terasen Inc. (formerly BC Gas Inc., TSE: TER.TO),
Westport Innovations Inc. (TSE: WPT.TO) and Perseus 2000 LLC.
