The MV-1, First Purpose-Built CNG Taxi,
Is Also First to Meet ADA Paratransit Guidelines
Drawing crowds at Clean Energy’s May 12 Second Annual Shareholder’s Meeting, the unique new MV-1 from Vehicle Production Group is the world’s first purpose-built taxi and paratransit vehicle designed from the ground up to run on clean-burning CNG fuel.
The MV-1 has a powered wheelchair ramp and extra-wide door openings. It can simultaneously accommodate two wheelchair passengers and up to four rear seat passengers. The rear cargo area yields 25.7 cubic feet of space. The vehicle serves the needs of both ambulatory and mobility-impaired passengers, and is the first to meet all guidelines of the 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA.)
Here, members of Clean Energy’s Board of Directors and executive staff explore the MV-I, which is set to enter service nationwide in the second quarter of 2010. Clean Energy invested in the development of the MV-1 to provide a new clean-air solution for taxi and paratransit operators and a customized transport option for their passengers.
