Clean Energy is the largest provider of vehicular natural gas (CNG and LNG) and related services in North America.  It has a broad customer base in the refuse, transit, shuttle, taxi, police, intrastate and interstate trucking, airport and municipal fleet markets with tens of thousands of vehicles fueling at more than 165 strategic locations in the United States and Canada.  The company operates a fleet of 33 LNG tankers carrying fuel interstate to more than 30 vehicle fleet and industrial customers.  Clean Energy is a private company whose major shareholders include Boone Pickens, Westport Innovations Inc. Clean Energy has named Todd Campbell as Director of Public Policy. Campbell is the former Policy & Science Director for the Coalition for Clean Air.

“Much of the growth in deployment of natural gas vehicles and improvement in the environment is due to forward thinking in the public policy arena,” said Andrew J. Littlefair, Clean Energy President & CEO. “Todd’s background and experience make him well-suited to help develop the natural gas vehicle industry further, for the benefit of all.”

As a member of the Mobile Source Air Pollution Reduction Review Committee (MSRC) representing the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority and the Vice-Mayor for the City of Burbank, Campbell continues to make environmental-friendly transportation issues his top policy concern. With an extensive background in public health, air toxicology, and clean alternative fuel technologies, he has become a true leader in the environmental advocacy field, serving as a member on the California Natural Gas Vehicle Partnership, the California Fuel Cell Partnership and the Southern California Association of Government’s Regional Council and Goods Movement Task Force.

Prior to serving as Policy Director for the Coalition for Clean Air, Campbell was a policy analyst with the Natural Resources Defense Council, specializing in toxic exposure and urban public health issues. He has also co-authored Failing the Grade: How Diesel School Buses Threaten Our Children’s Health, which helped inspire the Governor’s $50 million “Lower Emission School Bus” program aimed at replacing California’s aging diesel school bus fleet with clean fuel vehicles.
