Clean Energy is the largest provider of vehicular natural gas (CNG and LNG) in North America with a broad customer base in the refuse, transit, shuttle, taxi, police, intrastate and interstate trucking, airport and municipal fleet markets. Tens of thousands of vehicles fuel daily at strategic locations in the United States and Canada. Customers include Los Angeles International Airport, Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, State of New York, SuperShuttle, Foothill Transit, Waste Management, Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport, SYSCO Foods, Denver International Airport and the US Navy.

The Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) Board of Directors has awarded a long-term liquified natural gas (LNG) supply contract to Clean Energy. The company will supply up to 15 million gallons of LNG to fuel buses at two DART locations during the initial contract period. DART currently operates 183 dedicated LNG buses as part of a 691-bus fleet. The contract is for three years with options for five additional years.

“We are pleased to initiate this long-term supply relationship with DART as part of our expansion of services to the Texas markets,” said David Haradon, General Manager, Southwest Division, Clean Energy. “The region's growing commitment to alternate fuels as part of a balanced energy scenario is leading the way for other areas of the country.”

“Additionally, Clean Energy has provided a capped LNG commodity price with the ability to float down with the market so if gas prices spike DART is protected and if gas prices fall DART benefits from a lower price,” noted Haradon. “This makes our service a winning proposition for DART and its riders.”

DART provides bus and rail transit services for 2.1 million persons in a 700-square-mile region, encompassing 13 cities. Systemwide ridership totals 93 million passenger miles annually.
