The new station, the third CNG facility at Sky Harbor, supplies fuel to the world’s largest compressed natural gas (CNG) airport shuttle bus fleet.  “The CNG station was built to fuel 62 El Dorado buses, powered by John Deere natural gas engines,” said James N. Harger, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Clean Energy.

The Sky Harbor facility dispenses up to 5,000 gallons of CNG per day.  The entire airport and related users consume over 10,000 gallons of CNG daily, making the Clean Energy three-station operation one of the largest CNG facilities in the world.

Phoenix is the third largest airport car rental market in the U.S.  Constructed at a cost of $270 million, the new rental center currently accommodates 13 rental companies, covering 141 acres at the southwest corner of the airport.  The CNG shuttle fleet will play an important role in improving air quality at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and its surrounding communities.
