Clean Energy is the largest provider of vehicular natural gas (CNG and LNG) and related services in North America. It has a broad customer base in the refuse, transit, shuttle, taxi, police, intrastate and interstate trucking, airport and municipal fleet markets with tens of thousands of vehicles fueling at strategic locations across the United States and Canada. The company operates a fleet of 42 LNG tankers carrying fuel interstate to more than 30 vehicle fleet and industrial customers. Clean Energy is a private company whose major shareholders include Boone Pickens, Perseus Capital and Westport Innovations Inc. (TSE: WPT).

Motorists driving CNG-powered vehicles can fill up anytime at Clean Energy’s new public fueling station located in Santa Monica, California. Local government officials, automakers, and environmental advocates gathered in May 2006 for dedication ceremonies at the new station site. Guest speakers included: Santa Monica City Councilmember Kevin McKeown; Martin Schlageter, Campaigns and Advocacy Director, Coalition for Clean Air; Gunnar Lindstrom, Senior Manager, American Honda Alternative Fuel Vehicles (AFV); and Henry Hogo, Assistant Deputy Executive Officer, South Coast AQMD.

Jim Harger, Clean Energy Senior Vice President, told the assembled guests, “We are delighted to bring this economical, clean-burning fueling service to the people of this area. Santa Monica has long been recognized for its unflagging commitment to ensuring a healthy environment for its citizens, and we’re proud to be a part of that effort.”

Kevin McKeown, Santa Monica City Councilmember, commented  “We are very pleased that Clean Energy has made convenient access to CNG fuel a reality for our community. On behalf of our residents, our lungs, and our kids, we thank you.”

Formerly operated by the Southern California Gas Company, Clean Energy’s new CNG fueling station features an all-new infrastructure support system, offering six times the previous fuel capacity, significantly faster fill rates, and improved reliability for motorists.
