Have you heard the corporate America buzz over ESG?
ESG stands for Environmental, Social and Governance issues. ESG is the new and expanding standard for investors to evaluate corporate performance. The biggest investors on the planet are pushing an ESG agenda for their investments. Consider this article in Forbes regarding BlackRock. BlackRock is the world’s largest asset manager, with $7.4 trillion in assets under management as of end-Q4 2019. Companies Need To Engage On ESG Issues Now Or Risk A Bruising 2021.
What does this mean to you and why should you care? If you do business with large companies, they have a problem that you can help solve. The “Environmental” in ESG means the company is focused on reducing their carbon emissions, also known as greenhouse gases (GHG). The fuel provided to you by Clean Energy is renewable CNG and renewable LNG. This renewable natural gas (RNG) is recycled from dairy farm waste, green waste, and landfills rather than coming from traditional natural gas. RNG is both renewable and low carbon. Carbon emissions are so low that some sources are actually negative carbon. This subzero fuel goes far beyond what any other clean technology can accomplish.
Getting back to the problem you can solve for your customers, hauling freight with RNG-powered trucks dramatically reduces GHG emissions. Your customer wants reduced GHG emissions. This goes beyond traditional purchasing criteria. Seeking carbon reductions goes all of the way up to the corporate boardroom and to the investors such as BlackRock. Imagine how the relationship with your customer is improved by saying “Mr. Customer, I can reduce GHG emissions by over 70% and provide you with awesome transportation services.”
Clean Energy wants to help you educate your customers about the advantages of your RNG-powered trucks. The topic of GHG emissions can get technical, so we see this effort as having several components. First is the introduction of near-zero RNG truck benefits to your customer. To that end, we have produced the attached brochure to provide a simple, easy to read overview of the benefits of clean near-zero RNG trucks. You are welcome to use this with your customer engagement. We are interested in your feedback as to what other tools and tactics will be helpful to you. For example, we can create a more detailed presentation about RNG and we can participate in customer meetings. You probably have more ideas. We want to make this about you and what we can do to help you maximize the business benefits of your clean near-zero trucks. Please let me know your thoughts and suggestions on how we can do more to help you spread the word and improve the ESG performance of your customers.
